About us
Musical Director

Our Musical Director is Mike Amplett, Mike’s passion for music began at the tender age of eleven. He was nurtured through the grades and various solo competitions progressing to principle Euphonium within the Shropshire County Brass Band, Youth Orchestra and Telford Band. He also achieved contesting success with Kidderminster Band on baritone as they rapidly ascended the sections.

Supporting local charities

Each year, the band donates the proceeds of an annual concert to support the work of a local charity. Over the last ten years, we have raised many thousands of pounds through our fundraising activities. In 2005 we joined forces with other community groups in Cleobury Mortimer to perform a concert in aid of the Trafalgar Weekend celebrations, which raised over £1600. Our Charity Concert in October 2006 raised over £900 for Acorns Hospice and in 2007 Little Hearts Matter, a charity supporting children with half a heart received nearly £1000. 2008 saw the band adopt Sunfield as its charity and raised £700.
1988 was the year Mike was asked to join the Premier Heart Of England Brass Band where he enjoyed playing at the Champion finals of Great Britain in the Royal Albert Hall two years in succession. Mike is a very well known and respected member of the brass band world and currently plays Solo Baritone for Wrexham Brass (Glyndur University) band.
